Korean War vets to hold city reunion
Korean War Veterans of Lycoming County are hosting a reunion this weekend in Williamsport that includes a number of events honoring their brothers on the battlefield.
Some 200 veterans are expected to be in Williamsport for the Pennsylvania Korean Water Veterans Reunion.
The reunion officially kicked off Thursday with registration at the Genetti Hotel.
But the main events start at 9 a.m. today with a welcome ceremony at the downtown hotel.
Korean War Veterans of Lycoming County Chairman Howard Wilt will call the reunion to order followed by presentation of colors and the Pledge of Allegiance.
Jamie Larson will sing the national anthem.
Williamsport Mayor Gabriel J. Campana is expected to be on hand to welcome the visiting veterans.
Veterans will later visit the Pennsylvania National Guard Army Reserve Center, tour Little League headquarters and that evening take in a Williamsport Crosscutters baseball game at Bowman Field.
Saturday will include a special ceremony at 10 a.m. at Veterans Memorial Park on West Fourth Street and Wahoo Drive.
The weekend will conclude with a Saturday night banquet at the Genetti Hotel with Brigadier Gen. Arthur W. Hinaman, commanding general Joint Task Force-D.C., addressing the veterans.
