Police identify shooting victim

Authorities have released the name of the 21-year-old man shot to death in a home in the 1500 block of Scott Street on Saturday afternoon.

Ansari Wilson, 21, who resided in the 600 block of Fourth Avenue, was pronounced dead at the Williamsport Regional Medical Center around 6 p.m. Saturday evening, according to Lycoming County Coroner Charles E. Kiessling.

His injuries stemmed from shots fired shortly after an unknown man entered 1510 Scott St. An autopsy is scheduled for noon today, according to Kiessling.

The gunman, who is still at large, is believed to be a black male in his teens. Shortly after hearing a succession of gunshots, witnesses reported seeing the alleged shooter run out the back door of the home and flee with another unidentified black male on a bicycle.

While Wilson’s driver’s license lists a city address, investigators have been told he has family ties to Philadelphia, where his mother still lives, according to Kiessling.

Wilson has an extensive criminal record in Lycoming County. According to court documents, from March to July, city police have charged Wilson with a variety of crimes, including simple assault, terroristic threat, attempted criminal trespassing and carrying a firearm without a license.

City police arrested Wilson most recently on July 15, when he was charged with burglary, trespassing and harassment, according to court record.

Detectives have yet to release any more information connected with this case, which is still under investigation.
