Tioga County Democrats invite gubernatorial candidates to picnic

WELLSBORO – Two gubernatorial candidates and a lieutenant governor candidate, all Democrats, are expected for the Tioga County Democrats’ annual picnic from noon to 4 p.m. Aug. 24 at Woodland Park on Bryden Street here.

Democratic candidates for governor that are expected are Tom Wolf, of York County, and Jo Ellen Litz, of Lebanon County. Democrat candidate for lieutenant governor Brad Koplinski also will attend.

“This will provide an opportunity for area voters to acquaint themselves with some of the state Democratic candidates, through discussion and a question and answer period,” said Tioga County Democrat Party Chairman Bill Berresford, of Mansfield.

Wolf, a native of southcentral Pennsylvania, was appointed by Gov. Bob Casey to serve on the Legislative Commission on Urban Schools. Later he took the job of Secretary of Revenue in Gov. Ed Rendell’s cabinet.

In July, Litz declared her candidacy for governor. Elected four times as a Lebanon County commissioner, she has served her county for 14 years.

Koplinski, of Harrisburg, is a second-term councilman.
