Southern Tioga School Board to vote on extending superintendent’s contract tonight

BLOSSBURG – On Friday afternoon, a recommendation to approve a five-year contract for Southern Tioga School District Superintendent Keith Yarger was added to the agenda for the board meeting at 6:30 tonight in the North Penn High School auditorium.

There was no discussion about the action item during last Tuesday’s work session.

Yarger’s contract does not expire until June 30, 2014.

The recommendation is being brought by the board’s Negotiations Committee, comprised of Frank Kollar, Steve Hall, Dan Berguson and Ivan Erway.

If approved, Yarger’s contract will be extended through June 30, 2019, at an annual salary of $115,000.

Also, according to third-day enrollment figures taken Thursday and released Friday, 1,822 students are enrolled.

That figure represents a loss of 117 students overall since last year when there were 1,939 students enrolled in the district.
