Store robbed for 2nd time in 2 months

HUGHESVILLE – A masked gunman robbed a female clerk at the Uni-Mart, 1 N. Main St., about 8:30 Wednesday night, according to law enforcement officials.

The clerk reportedly suffered chest pains and had difficulty breathing, prompting the 911 center to dispatch the borough’s fire company ambulance to the scene.

It was believed that woman was taken to the Muncy Valley Hospital.

It was unknown if the gunman made off with any cash.

The suspect was described as black, thin build, about five feet four inches to five feet eight inches tall and possibly in his mid-20s. He was last seen wearing a black and white sweatshirt.

State troopers and officers from surrounding police departments were assisting in the search for the gunman. State police were processing the scene, trying to gather any evidence. The store was immediately closed following the robbery.

This was the second holdup at the store in just under two months.

A young man robbed a female clerk at knifepoint on Oct. 12.

Bryan Christopher Hall, 20, of Hughesville, an admitted heroin addict, was arrested four days later and charged with allegedly committing the holdup. He remains jailed in the Lycoming County Prison in lieu of $80,000 bail.
