Office building plans move forward
PENNSDALE – The Lycoming County Planning Commission approved a change from suburban estate to suburban mix in January as representatives of Ashland Manor have applied for a sub-division for an office building. Four of the manor’s 33 acres will be set aside for the 12,000-square-foot structure.
The Zoning Board will meet with manor representatives to discuss a land development plan on March 3. Topics will include right of way, parking and other issues surrounding the area around the building.
Township supervisors agreed to inform the state Department of Environmental Protection Agency that the manor will hook into the Lycoming County Water and Sewer Authority.
Supervisors approved a state Department of Transportation proposal to repave the road from the Sunoco gas station to Sammy’s Bar and Restaurant. A camera system will be installed at each traffic light at that time and replace the ground loops, which will provide better footage in bad weather. A right-turn lane also will be installed at the traffic light to the on-ramp to I-180.
Updating the heating and cooling system for the township office and meeting room is in discussion. Township supervisors are waiting for the contract to be completed in order to get estimated costs.
Fire Chief Scott Oldweiler reported three motor vehicle accidents, five box alarms and one assist during January. Fire training courses currently available include hazardous materials awareness, first responder and a hazmat refresher. An essentials class will be offered in April.
Bids for a brush truck will be accepted through Craig’s List, Pennswoods website and the Williamsport Sun-Gazette beginning March 1. Basket bingo will be from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Feb. 22 and a gun show will be held the weekend of March 1.
Fire company President John Magyar told the board that discussions are being held to organize fundraisers to make the civic center more profitable.
The board advised all events should be reported in advance for insurance purposes.
In old business, the security system and Facebook page are up and running.
