Presentation on downtown project to be postponed

City Council won’t be presented tonight with a description of the Destination 2014 and Trade and Transit Centre II projects.

The presentation on the downtown economic development projects to be done by consultants with Penn Strategies, of Harrisburg, and Rettew Associates, 416 Pine St, has been rescheduled for council’s March 20 meeting, according to Mayor Gabriel J. Campana.

“They are putting the final touches together and are not ready for the presentation,” Campana said.

The council will hold the first reading of a proposed ordinance to create a East Third Street Gateway Revitalization Advisory Commission.

The commission will consist of several developers who will meet to make recommendations that must be approved by council and the administration.

The scope of the work will involve reviewing redevelopment between Penn and Catherine streets.

Council also is being asked to approve the hiring of Ryan James Brague as a city police officer.
