MUNCY – Muncy School Board met Monday night to approve several measures, many related to new classes, textbooks and personnel.

The board voted unanimously to add two new computer-aided design electives to the senior high school course selection.

Both courses – architecture and solid modeling – will be offered as half-credit independent studies.

Regarding textbooks, the board voted to approve Common Core Literature from Pearson for the junior/senior high school language arts classes, grades six through 12. For the high school’s social studies department, an advanced placement psychology book was approved, also from Pearson. Both books are for the 2014-15 school year.

The board voted to add Ashley Long to the daily substitute list to teach early childhood classes and elementary classes from kindergarten through the sixth grade.

The board also approved the appointment of Zach Martin as the weight room supervisor for the 2014-15 year at $11.20 an hour.

Gregory Girven and Juan Rojas both were appointed as volunteer coaches for the junior high boys soccer team for the spring season.

In other business, the board heard from Key Club co-adviser Matt Alexander who requested that the board approve reimbursements to the club totaling $380 for expenses from a recent Key Club convention. The measure was approved.

Alexander also requested the board consider alotting no more than $1,000 for a future Key Club event. The cost would cover transportation and hotel expenses.

The board agreed to consider the issue at a later date.
