Council designates handicap spot

HUGHESVILLE – Council approved an ordinance for a designated handicap spot and is ready to advertise. A sign will be placed at the residence on 55 S. Broad St. to mark the specific area for the resident to park. Police will ensure the handicap spot is used as intended.

The state Department of Transportation will hold a public officials meeting concerning traffic from 1 to 3 p.m. Monday at the Hughesville Area Public Library on 146 S. Fifth St. The meeting will address possible alternative routes to relieve traffic congestion in the area of routes 220 and 405.

The Dangers of Drug Overdose will be the topic of discussion at Eastern Lycoming County Town Hall Meeting at 6 p.m. Monday at the Paul Geringer Social Hall in Muncy.

Law enforcement and local experts will educate residents about drug abuse and will address any concerns during the meeting.

The Civil Service testing is complete and both applicants passed the written part. The physical fitness test is today.

Borough police reported 85 calls in April.

The East Lycoming Education Foundation members will host the first Carz and More show Saturday in the school parking lot. All donations and funds raised will be used to provide more scholarships for students. The registration is at 9 a.m., rain or shine.

This is the last week borough employees will pick up brush from residents. Residents are urged to finish trimming their trees and have brush ready for pickup.
