East Lycoming School District plans construction of football bleachers
HUGHESVILLE – The East Lycoming School Board unanimously approved an $82,583 construction project to improve the Hughesville High School football stadium bleachers.
Voting in favor were Richard Michael, Richard Bradley, Donna Gavitt, Diane Santo, Jonathan Brokaw, Karen Berger and Randy Eddinger. Kellie Shaner-Gordner and Amy Rogers were absent.
Zartman Construction Inc. will repair foundation posts, which have deteriorated over the years due to weather and show some minor concrete scaling. The project also will include the addition of aisle hand rails to increase the accessibility of the bleachers and bench repairs.
The decision to improve the bleachers has been considered over the past few years because of their age, said district Business Manager David Maciejewski.
Construction should be done prior to the fall football season, Maciejewski said.
The board received three other bids on the project in the $100,000 and above range.
The board also unanimously passed a movement for current board President Richard Michael to continue serving as board president.
In other business, Alexis Warf was hired as assistant football cheerleading coach for the 2014-15 season. Warf will be paid $1,193.
Sara Aderhold, Kierra Croucher, Olivia Gorg, Ian Hufnagel, Courtney McCowan, Paige Ramin, Mitchel Thomas, Rachel Thomas, Sean Thomas and Anna Trevouledes were hired as 2014 summer tennis program aides for June through August at an hourly rate of $7.25, no benefits.
The next East Lycoming School Board meeting will be held at 7 p.m. June 3.
