Council sells dump truck

MONTGOMERY – Borough council on Tuesday agreed to sell its 1997 Ford F-350 dump truck and plow to Kevin Entz for $7,896.28. Two other bids came in at $2,900 and $3,200.

Council approved the route for the Montgomery Volunteer Fire Co. parade, which will be held at 5 p.m. June 21, but did not publicly disclose the route at the meeting.

The borough is seeking donations to help pay for a fireworks display that will be at dusk on July 3 at the park. The cost is about $8,000 and about $2,875 has been received to pay for it. Anyone wishing to donate may call the borough office.

Council also learned that:

Police investigated 65 incidents in the borough and eight in Brady Township. “I just wanted to say that the new chief is doing a great job,” resident Terry Turner said of Police Chief Earnest Delp. “I have seen a big difference in town over the last six weeks and a lot of the problems have been taken care of.”

The Montgomery Historical Society will join in the 75th anniversary of Little League celebration by recognizing past and present Little League members who have lived in Montgomery. Until the end of August, members may sign the baseball showcasing the team for which they played.

  • Revitalizing Montgomery will host its Second Saturday event this weekend from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Heritage Park. Proceeds will be used to revitalize Main Street.

The fire company handled 15 calls in May and the new ambulance is in service. The 2010 Type 3 light duty ambulance was purchased at the end of May to replace the 1997 medium duty Freightliner.
