Historic days ahead; special coverage planned

The Sun-Gazette plans special commemorative editions Friday through Monday to mark a host of historic and exciting events.

Friday marks the 75th anniversary celebration of the founding of Little League Baseball, the world’s largest organized youth sport activity.

The day also marks the 70th anniversary of D-Day, the event that was the turning point of World War II.

On Sunday, legendary Beatles drummer Ringo Starr and his All Starr Band will appear at the Community Arts Center and the Billtown Blues Festival will hold its 25th anniversary day of performances in Hughesville.

Additionally, there are high school graduations and state baseball playoff games for area teams that will figure heavily in the Sun-Gazette’s coverage.

Front-page poster covers are scheduled Friday through Monday marking the Little League anniversary and Starr’s performance and a special eight-page section is planned Friday to mark the D-Day observance.
