Officials announce investment in regional medical center
Susquehanna Health will receive a $150,000 grant from Little League Baseball to support the creation of a Little League Kids Zone at the Williamsport Regional Medical Center’s Hospitality Inn.
The grant announcement was made by Little League President and CEO Stephen D. Keener during Friday night’s 75th anniversary celebration of Little League.
“No organization has been more supportive of Little League in this community than Susquehanna Health,” Keener said.
The Hospitality Inn is often used by people visiting hospitalized family members who need a place to stay.
The Garth Brooks’ Teammates for Kids Foundation has supported the Little League Challenger Division and provided funding for Child Life Zones in urban-based pediatric hospitals.
The renovation to the Hospitality Inn will allow for expansion and provide children staying in the Kids Zone a place especially for them.
Construction of the $5 million project is to get under way this summer.
“I assure you this will benefit those who choose to utilize it,” said Susquehanna Health Board Chairman Ron DeFeo.
Susquehanna Health President and CEO Steven Johnson called it an investment in the community.
