Public meeting to discuss proposed change in artificial lure fishing for Pine Creek

The state Fish and Boat Commission will hold a public meeting in Waterville to get feedback on a proposed change in artificial lure fishing in Pine Creek.

The commission received a proposal from the Lower Pine Creek Brown Trout Club to extend the delayed harvest artificial lures only area near Slate Run by an additional 1.6 miles downstream. The area now encompasses 1.2 miles, from the confluence with Slate Run downstream to a point roughly 500 feet upstream of the confluence with Naval Run.

Fishing with delayed harvest artificial lures means the use of only metal, plastic, rubber or wood lures and flies and streamers constructed of natural or synthetic materials is permitted.

Commission staff will be present to gather public feedback from those who might be the most impacted by the change and discuss the current status of the fishery at Pine Creek.
