Blue Star Mothers plan chapter for Williamsport
Blue Star Mothers of America, a support group for mothers or female legal guardians of members of the armed forces, is looking to start a chapter in Williamsport.
The group will have its first meeting at 7 p.m. Thursday at 1682 Oak Ridge Place. State Rep. Rick Mirabito, D-Williamsport, will speak at the meeting.
Jacqueline Ceasar-Wherry, whose son joined the Air Force in November, is leading the charge to establish the local chapter. Ceasar-Wherry said the chapter is looking for at least five mothers interested in being officers.
Blue Star Mothers of America creates care packages for those in the service and provides support for families of those serving in all branches of the military, veterans and parents of fallen soldiers.
