Fanny Float returns to river on Saturday

It is time once again to float your fanny down the Susquehanna River. Grab your inner tubes and sunscreen and make your way down to Tag’s Vista, formally known as Haywoods on the Water, 610 Antlers Lane, to participate in the fourth annual Fanny Float at 11 a.m. Saturday.

Registration will begin at 9:30 a.m. and the float will take place at 11. Participants are able to purchase tubes to float in at Bastian Tires or at All Round Tires in Jersey Shore. Both places will sell tubes at the event if there are any left over.

Children ages 12 and under will be required to wear a personal flotation device while participating in the float. The floaters will travel one mile down the Susquehanna River while soaking up the summer sun, until they reach the designated river lot, where they will be bused back to Tag’s Vista.

“The scenery is absolutely beautiful up there,” said Dean Kriebel, president of Andrew’s Special Kids Foundation.

The DuBoistown Dice Run also will take place at 11 a.m. at Tag’s Vista. The dice run is a motorcycle ride that will take participants on a 65-mile ride throughout Pennsylvania. Registration will be from 10 to 11 a.m.

Proceeds from both the Fanny Float and the DuBoistown Dice Run will go to Andrew’s Special Kids Foundation to purchase adaptive equipment for local children with disabilities. The money raised from last year’s Fanny Float provided funds to help 75 children last year. The foundation hopes to raise even more money this year to help even more children, Kriebel said.

After the Fanny Float, participants will enjoy the after party. Flipside, a band, will perform and there will be over 300 prizes that can be won by purchasing raffle tickets. Some of the prizes include a 14K gold pendant with 18-inch chain, Philadelphia Eagles recliner, a gas grill and a Dell laptop computer.

There will be plenty of food available and Fanny Float T-shirts will be sold.
