Football Fever 2014 inside home editions
The Williamsport Sun-Gazette’s annual high school football preview magazine, Football Fever 2014, can be found inside today’s home subscriber editions. The magazine also is available at Wegmans.
Football Fever includes sports writer Chris Masse’s previews of all 17 area high school teams and a collection of their top players. It also takes a look at what, not only players, but bands and even coaches go through in the offseason as they try to improve and gain attention.
There is a story about the annual District 4 combine that invites hundreds of area players to work out for interested college coaches, a session modeled after the NFL combine each winter for top college players. Another opportunity this offseason was a nearby academy stop by former All-Pro NFL running back LaDainian Tomlinson, who seeks to educate high school players on challenges on and off the field at the next level.
Speaking of the next level, Warrior Run High School graduate Charlie Fisher has moved on from Penn State to Richmond, and Nick Seitzer takes a look at the long and winding road of a longtime college football assistant.
There also is a look at Williamsport High School’s Marching Millionaires and how they plan and create entertainment not just for football season but for competitions of their own.
The magazine also includes important statistics on all the teams and schedules.
“We’re excited about providing readers with a well-rounded football magazine that they will find useful throughout the season,” said Sun-Gazette Editor David F. Troisi. “There’s something in there for both hard-core fans of particular schools and those readers who are interested in the entire platform of high school football.”
