Sun-Gazette Little League pins go on sale Wednesday

The Williamsport Sun-Gazette’s newest set of commemorative Little League World Series pins will be available for purchase on Wednesday in the lobby of the Sun-Gazette building, 252 West Fourth St. Doors open at 7:30 a.m.

Traditionally, the pins go on sale the Monday of the first week of the Little League World Series, but due to a shipping delay, the date had to be changed, according to Bernard A. Oravec, Sun-Gazette publisher.

Out of the eight pins, only one, which features an eagle, must be purchased with the whole set, Oravec said.

The 2014 set introduces Summer Day, the first female character to be featured on a Sun-Gazette pin. She is the sister of Sunny Day, the newspaper’s mascot.

“Collectors will be quite pleased with this set,” said Oravec, who conceived the idea for each pin.
