Tickets still available for Army rock show tonight
Williamsport is just hours away from being rocked – by the U.S. Army – and there still is time to attend the free concert.
The Volunteers, the touring rock ‘n’ roll group of the Army’s field band, will perform a free concert at 7:30 tonight at the Community Arts Center, 220 W. Fourth St.
“Tickets are going fast and there are still plenty of great seats. Tickets will be available at the door from 7 p.m. until the time of the show,” said Bernard A. Oravec, publisher of the Williamsport Sun-Gazette.
The newspaper and the Community Arts Center are two of the performance’s sponsors.
“Anyone who did not request tickets or receive tickets in the mail may show up at the door before the show and they will be seated,” Oravec said.
The band will perform a variety of sets, including classic ’70s hits, Oravec said.
The group has performed around the globe, entertaining audiences with a unique blend of American popular music, rock ‘n’ roll, jazz, patriotic tunes and country music.
The show isn’t the typical military brass band, according to Master Sgt. John Lamirande, audio engineer for the band.
The five-piece band consists of two guitarists, a bassist, drummer and keyboardist.
“These are phenomenal musicians and it will be well worth your time taken to enjoy the free show,” Oravec said.
