The iconic bell that once hung in L.L. Stearns and Sons department store now hangs in Patinaz, 38 W. Fourth St., this holiday season. The bell was donated to River Valley Transit in 1999 by Carole Smith, the former manager of the Lycoming Mall, according to William E. Nichols Jr., of River Valley Transit. The bell was moved to the Trade and Transportation Museum in Williamsport a few years ago. A sleigh that was long a familiar site at the long-closed Stearns can be found in the front window of Patinaz.
