Local high school students to sing at the White House

Williamsport Area High School’s a capella groups, Les Chanteuses and GQ, have been invited to sing at the White House, Alisha Chen, student representative, said at the Williamsport Area School Board Tuesday meeting.

The groups will perform for tourists in mid-December for the second year in a row.

In other matters, the board accepted a bid of $14,640 for nine disinfection machines that spray foam and rinse off areas such as bathrooms and the pool area. The money came from the state cooperative purchasing program.

Voting yes were Lori Baer, Spencer Sweeting, Jane Penman, Scott Williams, Jerene Milliken, Robin Knauth, Patrick Dixon and Jennifer Lake. Nancy Story Somers was absent.

The next school board meeting is 6 p.m. Dec. 6 at the District Service Center, 2780 W. Fourth St.
