Muncy board OKs increase in trainer pay, new teacher

MUNCY —  The Muncy Area School Board approved an increase in payment for athletic training services and a new teacher at Monday’s meeting.

Voting were Mary Bennardi, Ty Fry, Scott McLean, Rhondel Moyle, Justin Reis and Lisa Sleboda. Connie Coyner, Robert Titman and Sarah Woodward were absent.

The athletic training services payment will go from $25 an hour to $40 an hour for coverage of junior high athletic events.

The increase was implemented by UPMC Susquehanna and is effective on Dec. 7, Superintendent Craig Skaluba said.

The new teacher, Michael Davis, will be teaching secondary social studies.

“We are just waiting on a release date from his previous employer,” Skaluba said.

The district has a substitute in place through Christmas break, he said.

In other business, the board approved secondary physical education teacher James Snyder’s retirement and the appointment of Bradley Watkins as hallway monitor, Nicole Kitka as cafeteria lunch monitor and Glenn Kepner as security guard.

The board also announced that it would vote on the hiring of an architect to take on renovations within the district at the next meeting Dec. 19.
