Search warrant leads to meth lab in city

Police have charged a man who was reportedly operating a methamphetamine lab in Williamsport.

Jeremy William Newman, 38, admitted to police that he was manufacturing meth at a residence at 300 1/2 Arch St.

Old Lycoming Township Police Department with assistance from the Lycoming County Narcotics Enforcement Unit had gone to the city residence Thursday with a search warrant where they found Newman inside the home along with Monica Jacobs.

The search warrant was employed as part of an on-going drug delivery investigation.

The Pennsylvania State Police Clandestine Lab Response Team was requested and assisted as well as Williamsport Bureau of Police and the Hughesville Borough Police Department’s K9 Unit.

Newman was charged with possession of liquefied ammonia gas and precursors and chemicals, possession with intent to deliver methamphetamine, and risking a catastrophe — all felonies — as well as related drug possession offenses.

He was arraigned before District Judge William Solomon and placed in the Lycoming County Prison in lieu of $250,000 bail.

Jacobs was taken to Lycoming County Prison on a bench warrant for failure to pay fines.

Both Jacobs and Newman are admitted heroin addicts, according to police.
