Robot-building competition set Saturday at Lycoming Mall

The Bloomsburg Robotic team will host the fifth annual Rage in the Cage Tournament on Saturday at the Lycoming Mall.

Students will be finishing up their final construction on their robots both during and after school in preparation for the tournament, which starts at 10 a.m. and will finish close to 5 p.m.

Montoursville Area High School, Pennsylvania College of Technology, Bloomsburg High School and Bloomsburg Middle School are among over 20 robotic teams that will participate.

Students who participate in the program will get the opportunity to apply Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) skills to design and construct a functioning robot that hopefully can outperform the opposition. The “Smart Sport” lets students to excel in both academics and hands-on learning.

The engineering program is part of the National Robotics League, which was founded by the National Tool and Manufacturing Association to help change the misperceptions about manufacturing and to attract a new generation of students to well-paying technical careers.
