Texas man accused in Blossburg shooting captured

A Texas man who allegedly shot a 24-year-old man in a Blossburg bar on Saturday has been arrested by the U.S. Marshals Service in Texas.

James Wesley Lynch IV, 39, of Cleveland, Texas, who allegedly shot Derrick Ricco, 24, in the abdomen in the Bear A Bar, 200 Main St., was arrested without incident in the 500 block of Doty Road in Vidor, Texas, said Edward Holst, a U.S. Marshals spokesman.

When Lynch will be returned to Tioga County depends on the judicial proceedings and his extradition in Texas, Holst said.

“It could be today or 30 days from now,” he said Thursday.

Lynch faces charges of attempted homicide and related offenses filed by Blossburg Borough police. When returned, he is likely to be arraigned at a district judge in Tioga County, Holst said.

“It is my sincere hope that the victim and the Blossburg community will find some measure of comfort knowing the suspect in the case will face justice,” U.S. Marshal Martin J. Pane said.

Ricco was listed in stable condition Thursday after he was transported Saturday by medical helicopter to Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre.
