Gas main replacement scheduled

WELLSBORO — On Monday, UGI Central Penn Gas will begin a natural gas main replacement project in Tioga County.

The project, estimated to last about six weeks, will take place on Waln Street between Walnut and Grant streets and on the south side of Grant Street from Waln Street to Morris Lane.

During the six weeks of the project, sections of Grant and Waln streets will be closed intermittently.

“UGI recognizes Wellsboro residents will be inconvenienced during this project. We will work to complete construction in a timely manner,” said Robert P. Krieger, vice president of operations.

The project will replace 1,500 feet of bare steel main with high density plastic and is a part of $170 million that UGI plans to spend this year in its multi-year infrastructure betterment initiative.
