Loyalsock Township School Board approves grounds maintenance

The Loyalsock Township School Board approved a bid for resurfacing and paving of the high school parking lot on Wednesday night.

The $19,567 bid, awarded to Dave Gutelius Inc., of Mifflinburg, will allow for the paving to coincide with work that the township is doing on Loyalsock Drive, the connecting road to the school parking lot.

“Now is the time to do it logistically,” said Business Manager Daniel Egly.

By awarding the bid to Dave Gutelius, which already is going to be paving and resurfacing Loyalsock Drive, the district will be able to save money on staging prices for equipment that will be used on the drive project.

Along with the approval for resurfacing and paving, the board approved a $7,959 proposal for maintenance and repairs of the synthetic turf on the high school’s football field.

The turf was installed in 2012 and this will be the first maintenance since its installation.

The costs for both issues will be funded from the Capital Projects Fund.

In terms of personnel, the board approved a list of substitute teachers for the 2016-17 school year as well as staff for the 2017 Elementary Summer Camp program.

The budget for the Lycoming Career and Technology Center was approved for the 2017-18 school year and bids for the athletic department also were approved. Heather Greenawalt was appointed as a transportation aide for the 2017 Summer Extended School Year program.

The board’s next meeting is at 7 p.m. June 28.
