Man shot multiple times when leaving after-hours party

(EDITOR’S NOTE: Today the Sun-Gazette continues a five-week Sunday series on unsolved homicides in the city since 2014. Investigators say they have no new information to release on any of the homicides but they are seeking the public’s help.)

Another unsolved deadly city shooting took the life of 27-year-old Basil Hall during the early morning hours of Jan. 9, 2016.

Hall, of Philadelphia, had been attending “an after-hours” party at the Pajama Factory at 1307 Park Ave. and was leaving the complex when he was shot to death outside about 2:45 a.m., city police said.

“There was no evidence that there was any problem in the establishment. What happened took place outside the building,” an investigator told a reporter hours after the shooting.

Police at the time stated that Hall was “clearly targeted” and that the shooter or shooters “knew him and that he was the person they they were after,” one investigator said.

Hall was shot “multiple times,” an officer at the time said.

Hall was rushed to the UPMC Susquehanna Williamsport Regional Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

“There were witnesses present during this shooting, but have yet to cooperate with police,” Agent Edward Lucas, the lead investigator, said.

“Hall walked out of the building where he was confronted by at least two unidentified shooters who cowardly shot the unarmed victim several times,” Lucas said.

“Hall had many friends in the Williamsport area. He leaves behind a loving mother and two young children. Family members desperately need closure. They continue to cooperate with this investigation and plead for the public to provide police with any information that may help,” Lucas, said.

“Investigating homicides stays with you when you leave City Hall, when you go home. You take the investigation home with you. In may ways, you’re actually living the investigation,” Lucas said.

Anyone with any new information about Hall’s murder is asked to call Lucas at 570-327-7595 or email him at elucas@cityofWilliamsport.org.
