SLIDESHOW: Cutters and fans kick off home opener

Peter B. Freund, principal owner of the Cutters, speaks before the game.

The Williamsport Crosscutters home opener brought out local fans, city leaders and local politicians to swing in a new season at the newly renovated BB&T Ballpark at Bowman Field Tuesday evening. The park’s new look features new bullpens and dugouts, which have handicapped lifts installed so coaches or players with the need easily can get up from a sitting position. New seating has also been installed, with box seats continuing to be placed in the stadium. A concession area with alcoholic beverages allows spectators to sit and watch the game from a good vantage point. The improvements were funded by Major League Baseball, part of its commitment to hold the Major League Baseball Little League Classic, a game between the Pittsburgh Pirates and St. Louis Cardinals to be played before Little League World Series players and their families on Aug. 20.
