Firetree Place names its new director

BILLY DAYTON

The Firetree Place Board has appointed Billy Dayton, previously the recreation and facilities coordinator, as its new executive director.

Dayton will be in charge of “the entire operation in his new position, including afterschool, summer camp, recreation and sports, and youth development programs,” according to a news release.

“We have a great team here that cares about the youth and the community they serve,” Dayton said in the news release. “We look forward to continuing to provide high-quality programs that serve the needs of our area youth and families.”

The new director started with Firetree in December of 2015 after serving as the academic services assistant in the athletic department at the University of Pennsylvania. He graduated from York College with a bachelor’s degree in sports management with emphasis in applied youth development.

Kay Ertel, board president, said Dayton’s organization skills and gentle manner provide a positive atmosphere for all.

“Billy has made a real difference at Firetree Place with his creative approach to serving our youth and had significantly expanded our programs,” she said.

Dayton could not be reached for further comment.
