City leaf pickup to begin today
The annual fall leaf pick-up by the city Streets and Parks Department begins today and continues through mid-December.
“We will begin our leaf pick-up Monday,” said Adam Winder, the department deputy director.
Residents should place leaves on the grass between the sidewalk and the curb and not in the streets.
The leaves should remain loose and not in plastic bags.
The department asks that no brush, branches or wood be included in the piles as these are picked up during spring in conjunction with Earth Day.
Typically, leaves left in alleys are not able to be picked up due to the size of the equipment used in the clean up.
Depending on the weather, the department picks leaves through early December, Winder said.
