Muncy council approves new member, postpones casino opt-out vote

MUNCY — The Muncy Borough Council appointed resident Bill Burns to fill a vacancy on the council left by the resignation of Tillie Noviello last month. Burns will serve until the next municipal election which is in two years.

Burns’ first action as a council member was joining the others in approving the appointment of Tim Miller as a substitute crossing guard. Miller’s hiring is dependent on a qualified reference check of the proper credentials.

Council members discussed whether the borough should opt out of allowing small casinos to operate within the borough. It was decided that more information on this topic will be gathered and discussed at next month’s meeting.

Council noted that the 2018 budget approved for advertising at last month’s meeting will be available for viewing on the borough’s website. Plans are to vote on the budget on Dec. 21.

The next council meeting will be at 7 p.m. Dec. 5 at Borough Hall, 14 N. Washington St.
