Williamsport Area School District hires new business administrator

Effective July 1, 2018, the Williamsport Area School District will have a new business administrator.

Wanda M. Erb will receive a yearly salary of $125,000, the board decided this week.

Currently the business manager for the Northern Tioga School District, Erb will take over for Jeffrey Richards, who plans to retire. His salary is $108,000.

“He’s looking forward to his retirement,” Lori Baer, school board president, said of Richards.

The board this week also acknowledged the last meeting for two board members, Dr. Robin Knauth, who served four years, and Scott Williams, who served two years.

“It’s been a wonderful privilege and a great learning experience,” Knauth said.

Williams said he is more enthusiastic and optimistic about the district than he was before serving.

“We have a great board and a great team of administrators,” he said.

Baer said she believed all the outgoing people had left the district a little better than before they came.

Voting in favor of Erb’s hiring were directors Baer, Spencer Sweeting, Jennifer Lake, Patrick Dixon, Dr. Nancy Story Somers, Dr. Jane Penman, Williams and Knauth. Member Jerene Milliken was absent.

The next meeting will be 6 p.m. Dec. 5 at the District Service Center, 2780 W. Fourth St.
