Dorin gets name on Montoursville building
The borough building in Montoursville has been renamed the John Dorin Municipal Building.
Borough council Monday night unanimously agreed to name the building after Dorin, who has served as mayor of the community for the past 34 years.
Council members Christopher Lucas and Rosemary Holmes, who is ending a four-year term on council, said Dorin was deserving of the honor.
“I think it’s just a great gesture,” Lucas said. “A lot of people have done a lot of good for this town, but I don’t know of anyone who’s done more than John.”
Dorin, who also served as a borough councilman for four years, said he simply loved being mayor.
Otherwise, he would not have stayed in office that long, he added.
Dorin is stepping down from his position when his final term ends after this month
