Westmoreland County woman killed in Saturday crash
LOCK HAVEN — An elderly Westmoreland County woman was killed Saturday morning in a two-vehicle crash on Interstate 80 in Greene Township, state police said.
Doris W. Smalley. 82, of Greensburg, was pronounced dead at the scene by Clinton County Coroner Zach Hanna following the crash that occurred about 9:40 a.m., just west Riansares Road, police said.
She was a passenger in a 2010 Ford Focus driven by Phillip L. Smalley, also of 82, and of Greensburg, who suffered minor injuries, police said.
Smalley was traveling west and attempting to pass a tractor-trailer truck when he lost control of the car, police said.
As the car began to slide sideways, it collided with the front passenger side of the truck, which was driven by Cory Rook, of Campbell, New York, police said. The car began rotating, crashing into a guardrail, police said, adding that the right rear section of the trailer crashed into the passenger side of the car.
