Council position filled
HUGHESVILLE — Todd McCowan, from the 1st Ward, was approved to serve a two-year term at Monday night’s borough council meeting. This action fills the last vacancy on council.
In other business, council approved the purchase of a copier from Lycoming Digital at a cost of $2,850. The cost will be split with the borough’s water company, which will meet next month to give its final approval to the purchase.
An ongoing erosion problem with the creek bank along Race Street was discussed at the meeting. Council had marked an area along the bank to determine the rate of erosion and over the last few weeks the bank has receded 9 feet. The borough is working with the water authority, Wolf Township and the Hughesville Camp ground to try to resolve the problem.
The next council meeting will be at 7 p.m. Feb. 12 at the borough building, 147 S. Fifth St.
