Concealed carry seminars set for 2 days this month

State Reps. Jeff C Wheeland, R-Loyalsock Township, and Garth Everett, R-Muncy, will host two concealed carry seminars this month.

Both begin at 6 p.m., the first on Feb. 15 at the Community Baptist Church, 1853 Route 87, Montoursville, and the second on Feb. 22 at the Clinton Township Fire Co., 2311 Route 54, Montgomery.

“Due to the popularity of these seminars, we are able to do this again in 2018,” Wheeland said. “There are a lot of misconceptions about Pennsylvania’s concealed carry laws, and the purpose of this seminar is to present people with the facts. The issues of the concealed carry law and the Pennsylvania Castle Doctrine will be explained in a concise manner so that residents can be safe.”

The seminars will help educate residents in the region, Everett said.

Lycoming County Assistant District Attorney Martin Wade will discuss Pennsylvania’s Castle Doctrine and stand-your-ground laws.

Lycoming County Sheriff Mark Lusk will explain rules and regulations surrounding licenses to carry firearms, and Pennsylvania State Trooper Angela Beiber will discuss how to safely interact with the police while carrying a firearm.

An officer from the state Game Commission will discuss carrying laws as they relate to hunting seasons.

Advance registration is required.

Those interested in attending should contact Wheeland’s district office at 570-321-1270, or via email at, or Everett’s office at 570-398-4476 or via email at
