Board approves new high school lockers

HUGHESVILLE — The East Lycoming School Board on Tuesday unanimously approved a contract for updates to the high school’s locker rooms.

The $82,878 contract, awarded to Third Dimension Specialties, of Scranton, includes the replacement of lockers and benches for the boys and girls locker rooms.

The current lockers at the high school are the original ones first installed in the school and have deteriorated with age, according to Superintendent Michael Pawlik.

The board also awarded a $92,412 contract to UPMC Susquehanna for three years of athletic training services.

Under personnel matters, Timothy George was hired as the new supervisor of buildings and grounds. He replaces longtime East Lycoming employee Michael McClain.

“Mike has done a wonderful job with us and he’s going to be very missed,” Pawlik said.

Alicia Bennett, Nikolaus Barkauskas, Rebecca Brocious and Jennifer Jackson all were approved as Intermediate Unit 17 guest teachers for the 2018-19 school year.

Barry Waldman was hired as a part-time custodian for $11.81 per hour for 4.75 hours a day and Trey Smith was approved as an athletic volunteer for the 2018 baseball season.

In attendance were board members, Richard Michael, Richard Bradley, Donna Gavitt, Erica Hubler, Michael Mamrak, Karen Berger, Kristy Creasey, Robert Heckrote and Lisa McClintock.
