Owlett secures nomination for Northern Tier House seat
Clinton Dennis Owlett easily secured the Republican nomination for the 68th state Legislative seat Tuesday night.
Unofficial returns show Owlett grabbing 89 percent of the vote in Potter County, 79.9 percent of the vote in Tioga County and 66 percent of the vote in Bradford County.
He easily outdistanced Mark Hamilton and Dennis Weaver.
Carrie Health ran unopposed for the Democratic nomination.
The 68th House seat was long held by Matt Baker, who resigned earlier this year.
Each of the candidates seeking nominations in the 83rd, 84th and 76th Legislative Districts ran unopposed.
Jeff Wheeland, the incumbent Republican, will face Democrat Airneezer J. Page-Delahaye for the 83rd House seat in the general election.
Garth Everett, the Republican holding down the 84th Legislative seat, will square off against Democrat Linda Kay Sosniak in November.
Michael Kelly Hanna Jr., a Democrat, will run against Republican Stephanie Paige Borowicz for the 76th House seat.
Hanna’s father, Mike Hanna, who has long represented the district, opted not to seek re-election.
