WASD hires new class principal

Locally elected and appointed officials voted on the following matters in the past week:

State

• The Senate and House will return to session today.

County

• The Lycoming County commissioners voted to apply for a $255,998 grant to pay the salaries and benefits of two victim and witness service coordinators in the district attorney’s office over the course of two years, breaking down to nearly $64,000 per coordinator per year. The commissioners also approved several purchases for Resource Management Services, including a hydraulic cylinder rebuild for a baler at a cost of $16,160. Voting were Commissioners Jack McKernan and Rick Mirabito. Commissioner Tony Mussare was absent.

Municipal

• The Brandon Park Commission discussed the Summer Concert Series and ways to improve it for next year. They also announced the Festival of Lights in Brandon Park will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Nov. 30.

School District

• The Williamsport Area School District hired Kristin J. Takach as a full-time prinicpal for the sophomore class at a salary of $81,000. Members present were: Lori Baer, Dr. Jane Penman, Patrick Dixon, Marc Schefsky, Dr. Nancy Story Somers, Jennifer Lake, Brette Confair and Adam Welteroth.
