Council approves stricter regulations for borough property maintenance

DuBoistown Borough Council gave final approval to the adoption of certain portions of the 2018 edition of the International Property Maintenance Code, which regulates the conditions and maintenance of all property, buildings and structures in the borough.

One section of the code approved by council establishes a fee schedule and also provides for penalties for non-compliance of a notice of violation. Another part of the section states that plant or weed growth greater than 6 inches is prohibited, as is having more than one inoperative or unlicensed vehicle on a property.

Council also approved an ordinance prohibiting junk yards within the borough, except as provided by the borough’s zoning ordinance.

In other actions, council approved:

• Robert O. Connor, Lock Haven, as solicitor for the zoning hearing board.

• Halloween hours for the borough for 6 to 8 p.m. Oct. 31.

• Nathan Maynard as a member of the public safety committee.

• Thomas Deljanovan as a member of the planning commission.

Members present were Eric Hine, Maynard, Mike Rodgers, Rich Boyles, Eric Fausey, Paul McKinley and Larry Campbell.

The next council meeting will be at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 1 at the Borough Building, 2651 Euclid Ave.
