JERSEY SHORE — Drug charges have been dropped against a 35-year-old mother who overdosed in her apartment while her 3-year-old daughter was in the next room.

While Tiadaghton Valley Regional police withdrew charges of possession of controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia against Jennifer Berkebile, of 212 Wylie St., the mother waived her preliminary hearing on one count of recklessly endangering.

The charges stem from an incident that occurred during the early morning hours of April 5 when police were called to Berkebile’s then apartment in the 300 block of Allegheny Street and found the woman unresponsive on the bathroom floor. Her daughter was in a bedroom next to the bathroom. Two other adults were in the apartment at the time.

Berkebile was revived and recovered. She is free on $5,000 bail.
