Police: Minit Mart hit by armed robber
A man robbed a convenience store in Loyalsock Township about 10 p.m. Sunday, state police said.
The man, wearing a gray hoodie, fled with an undetermined amount of money, police said.
He allegedly brandished some sort of weapon to threaten the store clerk at Nittany Minit Mart, 1450 E. Third St., police said.
The man allegedly walked away toward the west and Williamsport.
City Police Capt. Jody Miller said city patrol officers did not respond to the incident. The boundary of the city is at Catherine Street near the Weis Markets and River Avenue.
Attempts to reach store personnel Monday were not successful. The store voicemail was filled and not accepting any messages.
The store was hit for the second time in two years under similar circumstances.
The same store was struck by a bandit Jan. 12, 2016, at about 9:30 p.m. on a Sunday night.
In that incident, an unidentified man in a hoodie with a bandanna covering his face walked into the store. He pointed a pistol at the clerk and demanded all the money in the drawer.
As in this case, the man took money and ran out of the store.
The store has surveillance footage that police are checking.
