Clear nights ahead to view Candy Cane Lane

KATELYN HIBBARD/Sun-Gazette The bright Christmas lights and decorations that add a sparkle to DuBoistown’s Summer Street, also known as Candy Cane Lane, have long attracted visitors from all over, seeking holiday wonder. Throughout the holiday season, the street gets busy with folks gazing at the spectacle of lights either on foot or from the warmth of their vehicles.

Visitors who want to catch the holiday decorations on Candy Cane Lane on Summer Street in DuBoistown may want to get their visitations done Monday through Wednesday, according to a forecaster.

“It’s going to be a dry start to the week, a little cooler and then we could have some wet weather towards the end of the week,” said Craig Evanego, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service in State College.

The rain could arrive by Thursday or Friday, with the weekend probably indicating a cool down behind the system with rain on Saturday and Sunday, Evanego said.

It is far out on the forecast but there may be a little bit of snow Sunday as temperatures remain near to slightly above normal for the month, he said.

One noticeable long-range forecast, Evanego shared, is there is nothing large on the horizon in terms of snowfall.

The work week starts out clear and sunny. Today should be partly sunny, with a high near 35 degrees. The wind will be felt, however, with gusts that could be as high as 32 mph, Evanego said.

Tonight, the temperature will start to drop quickly with a low of 24. Again, the winds will be significant, at 13 to 15 mph, with gusts of 21 mph, he said.

Tuesday appears as though it will be sunny, with a high near 32. The wind won’t be as high as Monday and the breeze will be at 7 to 11 mph.

It will dip down to a low of 21 Tuesday night, but the next day is one of the nicer of the week.

Wednesday looks as though it will have sun and a high near 39, Evanego said. The low that night will be about 28, he said.

The first chance of rain showers is Thursday, with a high near 41. Look for rain on Thursday night, with a low of 38, according to the forecast.

Friday brings possible warmer weather with a high near 50 and a chance of rain. There will be a chance of rain and snow showers that night and a low temperature of about 36, Evanego said.

Saturday also looks as though there is a chance of rain and a high of 38. It may cloud up Saturday night, with a low of 29, he said.

Sunday also appears as though there is a chance of snow showers and a high of 36, Evanego said.
