Bandshell restoration funds on City Council schedule
City Council is expected tonight to vote on a grant agreement between the city and First Community Foundation Partnership for $150,000 to go to renovation of Brandon Park bandshell.
The proposal received a prior positive recommendation from finance committee, so it does not appear likely to be voted down.
However, it must formally be voted up or down, Mayor Gabriel J. Campana said.
Renovation, estimated at $280,000, includes many structural repairs, he said. Many temporary fixes were done over the last year to ensure upcoming use of the stage is safe, he said.
Other funding sources include $100,000 of Community Development Block Grant funds and $20,000 from the county.
Council also holds a first reading on a proposed zoning map amendment to extend the Central Business District from north of Third Street and south of Center Place, between Elmira and Center streets.
