Bradford County resident, veteran seeks 12th seat

Stacy Garrity has announced her intention to seek the Republican nomination for the 12th Congressional seat.

Garrity is vice president for two divisions of Northeast-based Global Tungsten and a board member of three industry trade groups. She is the first of two women to be named vice president at the 650-employee firm.

A decorated Iraq War veteran and winner of two Bronze stars, she served three deployments in the Middle East, retiring from the Army Reserves with the rank of colonel. During her deployment she was dubbed, “The Angel of the Desert” as one of the officers in charge of a 7,000 prisoner internment camp.

As a private citizen, Garrity has fought to create jobs and protect American security. She advocated for the “Don’t Buy From the Bad Guys Act,” a federal measure that prevented hostile nations from doing back-door business in tungsten metal with American firms.

She supports securing the borders, tax cuts and for bringing jobs to the 12th House District.

“I was blessed to be part of bringing liberty and freedom to people that had never known what that was,” Garrity said.

“Throughout my military career, I worked to show that Americans are not only brave, but compassionate — qualities that stretch from the shores of Normandy to the mountains of Afghanistan. As a businesswoman, I have focused on creating jobs here in northeast Pennsylvania. I am committed to focusing on those same goals in Congress.”

Garrity and her husband, Daniel Gizzi, reside in Athens.
