One killed on Lycoming Creek Road
An elderly man was struck by a pickup truck and killed at Lycoming Creek Road and Roosevelt Avenue just before 9 p.m. Thursday, Old Lycoming Township police confirmed.
The victim, whose identity was not released, was pronounced dead at the scene by a staff member the Lycoming County Coroner’s Office, police said.
The man was hit by a truck heading north on Lycoming Creek Road, police said. The crash occurred during a steady rain.
The driver stopped and was briefly interviewed at the scene. He then went to township police headquarters on nearby Green Avenue, where he was interviewed in greater detail by investigators.
At press time, it was unknown if the pedestrian was walking along Lycoming Creek Road or if he was trying to cross the road when he was hit.
Township and city firefighters responded to the crash as did paramedics from UPMC Susquehanna Williamsport Regional Medical Center.
State police also responded and took photos of the truck and the crash scene.
Township police said they would release more details later today, including the identities of the pedestrian and the driver.
