Water line replacement in Newberry coming
City Council’s public works committee discussed street repairs with the Williamsport Municipal Water Authority Tuesday.
The project is at West Fourth and Arch street, according to Mike Miller, authority executive director.
“It’s a broken pipe,” he said.
The repair will require some head’s up by the authority, to alert motorists, said Councilman Don Noviello.
Miller was unable to provide a set date for the project at this time.
He agreed with the committee that an alert will be given to the local media.
In other business, the committee gave a positive recommendation for council to pass a resolution authorizing the acceptance and placement of a U.S. Army surplus helicopter for Veterans Memorial Park.
John Markley, a retired Army master sergeant and former city streets and parks deputy general manager, is a member of the Veterans Memorial Park Committee. He gave the committee an update on the memorial wall of wars between the American Revolution and before World War I.
The committee remains committed to selling large and small bricks as a fundraiser. The bricks can be ordered, with engravements of the purchaser’s choice, and will be laid into the paving in front of the six-monuments, he said.
A planned dedication and formal unveiling of the monument is scheduled for Memorial Day weekend, Markley said.
