Grant to pay for pagers moves to City Council’s agenda
The city Bureau of Fire is expecting to order pagers for its firefighters using a state grant.
The use of the grant, which is just under $15,000, and comes from the State Fire Commissioner’s office, received a positive recommendation Tuesday from City Council’s public safety committee.
City Fire Chief Todd Heckman presented the request.
In other action taken, the committee heard from Jeff Reeder, chairman of the Civil Service Commission.
Reeder said he was concerned two vacancies remain for alternate positions on the commission.
The fire department also is preparing an amendment to a city ordinance regarding a fee schedule as part of the fire prevention code.
More details about the fee schedule in the ordinance is expected to be presented to council Thursday night for an initial reading, Heckman said.
A proposed resolution authorizing an agreement between the city and the state Fire Recovery Service also is on council’s agenda, he said.
