Lock Haven looking to hire finance director

LOCK HAVEN — The city of Lock Haven are looking for applicants for three positions including a full-time finance director, a part-time finance clerk and summer laborers.

The finance director is a key member of the city’s executive leadership team who works under the city manager and oversees $11 million in funding, according to the city’s website.

Applicants are required to have a bachelor’s degree in accounting or business administration accounting.

Six or more years of experience in directly-related auditing or accounting including four years of experience in government accounting is preferred.

The finance director is expected to work 8 hours a day, five days a week at a salary of $45,000. Health benefits are included as well as life insurance.

A part-time finance clerk position is also available.

A finance clerk oversees records managements as well as assists in bookkeeping and accounting data entry, according to the city’s website.

They are expected to work five hours a day and average 25 hours per week at $10.20 per hour. The hourly rate will increase to $10.70 per hour after a probationary period.

Essential job functions include performing bookkeeping tasks related to accounting for the receipt of payments to the city, account for payments owed by the city, reconciliation of daily and monthly accounts and proof the work of other employees involved in the processing of city revenues and expenditures and answering phones and providing general information to the public.

The clerk also will be expected to greet and assist walk-in clients and customers and maintain customer account records and department files and accounts.

Applicants must have a high school diploma or equivalent and experience in bookkeeping/accounting. Proficiency with word processing, spreadsheet programs and computer equipment is preferred.

The city is also looking for multiple part-time summer laborers for their public works department.

Applicants would assist in the maintenance of city parks, the levee and other public spaces, according to the city’s website.

Summer laborers would earn $11 an hour for 40 hours per week for eight weeks or 20 hours per week for 16 weeks. They would work for the city during the late spring and summer, or between semesters at Lock Haven University and Keystone Central School District.
